Growing up I had a lot of hobbies, but I always seemed to jump from one thing to the next and never really developed that passion some people seem to have for their hobbies. I was a bit envious of people like that and felt like I was really missing out on something...until I got a Nikon D70s for Christmas in 2006. I had always enjoyed taking pictures and I guess you could even say I was “click happy,” which could end up being pretty expensive, especially with a 'panorama camera' accidentally set on panorama mode for 4 rolls of film of friends just goofing off. Needless to say, I really profited from making the move to digital cameras. In the time since first laying my hands on my 'new toy,' I've gone from seeing photography as something fun to do once in awhile to being a passion, and something I would eventually like to do not only as a hobby, but as my job as well.
I am lucky enough to have been giving the opportunity to travel from a fairly early age. Traveling really opened my eyes to the beauties of the world and helped open my eyes to the fact that there is so much to see and do beyond the small town in northern New Jersey where I spent the first 18 years of my life. This made my decision to leave home when I was 18, to study in Germany pretty easy. I graduated from university in 2005 with a BA in International Relations and Business Management. Since then I have been living near Munich, which is surrounded by absolutely breathtaking landscape, with the alps a mere hour away. Although I'll always call New Jersey home, not a day goes by where I am not grateful to be living in such a beautiful place.
As for my photography, I currently sell my images to several online stock agencies to help support my growing arsenal of equipment. I don't really specialize in any specific genre yet, but I am 'testing the waters,' and trying everything from portraiture, to landscape, to street to macro. There is just so much beauty in everything around us that it is really too early for me to think about limiting myself to shooting one genre. Right now I am just trying to learn as much as I can, experiment a lot and develop my own style that will eventually set me apart from other photographers. I have a long road ahead of me, but will take it one step at a time.
